Must be at least
By fostering these cat(s)/kitten(s), I am making a commitment to provide love, safety and care until they are adopted by SCA to a permanent home. Kittens will be available for adoption after they are spayed/neutered (when approximately eight weeks old) and are in good health.
An SCA representative has explained how to acclimate my foster(s) into my home and to any pets I may have. I will follow these instructions and will notify my SCA contact if I have any issues or questions.
I will assist in the adoption process by providing photos and video of my foster(s) if possible to SCA, and by bringing them to adoption events if/when I am able to. If I do not approve of potential adopters meeting my foster(s) at my residence, I will bring them to a meeting place arranged by SCA.
I understand that fostered animals belong exclusively to SCA, and also understand that if I become unable to care for my foster(s) I will either hire an approved pet sitter at my own expense, or will alert SCA with as much notice as possible so a new foster can be found.
I agree to return all foster(s) at once to SCA upon request.
SCA relies on the generosity of donors. Whenever possible, I will supply food, litter and other needed items for my foster(s). SCA will provide what I am not able to. I can submit the receipts for purchases I make for my foster(s) and receive a Tax Receipt.
I agree to feed and care for my foster(s) as I have been instructed by SCA. Wet food will be offered twice a day to adults, and at least three times per day to kittens. All cats and kittens will be given a minimum of one whole 3 oz can, or half of a 5 oz can, eat each meal (may differ for small kittens). For adult cats and kittens over 6 weeks, a small bowl of dry food will be available unless otherwise specified. I will not use a self/free-feeder for food. If my foster(s) will not eat wet food, I will notify SCA.
If I am fostering bottle babies or kittens who are weaning, I have been given separate Kitten Care Instructions, either printed or by email, that have been explained to me and I understand them. I have been trained how to care for my kittens by an SCA staff member.
I will provide a clean bed, scratching post/cardboard scratcher and toys and will let SCA know if I need assistance with any of these items. I will make sure toys with strings and feathers, and simliar objects, are only used with supervision as if swallowed it could require serious medical attention. I will scoop the litterbox at least once per day, make sure clean fresh water is always available, and offer food as described above.
I must keep my foster cat(s)/kitten(s) indoors at all times, and make sure they can't get out (unscreened windows, loose screens, doggie door, front door, etc.). If for any reason my foster(s) gets out, I will alert SCA immediately.
I will always transport foster(s) in a secure carrier, and will get one from SCA if I don't have one. I will never carry my foster(s) in my hands/arms outside of my home.
I agree to follow the medical care guidelines for my foster(s) as explained to me by my SCA representative. I will bring my foster(s) to SCA headquarters or an SCA-approved veterinarian whenever requested and will advise immediately if I do not have transportation. I agree to administer any medications my foster(s) may need as instructed by SCA, and will not treat with anything that is not approved by SCA.
I understand that fleas can be part of fostering an animal, and agree to keep my foster(s) flea-free by following direction from SCA.
I will alert SCA immediately if my foster(s) is not eating, has diarrhea, vomits, is bleeding, is lethargic, feels unusually warm or cold, has nasal or eye discharge, or shows any other abnormal symptoms that could require medical attention. I will follow SCA's direction for care or how to obtain veterinary services.
I understand that all veterinary care must be pre-authorized by a SCA Medical Coordinator. Services obtained without authorization or at a non-SCA veterinary clinic may be my financial responsibility. If my foster(s) require medical attention, I will immediately alert my SCA contact. I will make sure that I have the phone number to at least three SCA staff members in case my SCA contact is not reachable.
I agree to hold harmless SCA, it's Board of Directors, its volunteers, all veterinary hospitals and veterinarians used by SCA and any other previous owners or fosters for any pre-existing or subsequent illnesses, medical conditions, damage to property, pets and persons, and any and all other liability.
I agree to allow an authorized SCA representative to visit my home to ensure the well-being of the fostered animal(s) and the suitability of the foster environment and the compliance with the terms of this Agreement.
I understand that my foster cat(s)/kitten(s) must remain in my personal care until they are officially adopted (Adoption Agreement fill-out and Adoption Fee received) or moved to another SCA foster. If I or someone I know is interested in adopting my foster(s), I will advise SCA who will handle the adoption process and make all decisions.
I will not give my foster(s) to another person or organization without prior written approval from SCA.
By initialling here, I am reminded that my willingness to foster is very much appreciated by SCA who can not save lives without fosters like me!
